Our German friend Schopenhauer saw it, and so do we. Times are changing. The diplomatic stage of the world is in danger of becoming a farce. We are sliding down the slippery slope of the manufactured human. The price of a Maß reaches a new record high every year. The life of a student is no longer the legendary student life it once was. In times like these, one cannot help but dream of the past, tradition, and steadfastness. It is for this reason that men with a shared sentiment come together to form a close bond at the Leydsch Pharmaceutical Gentlemen's Dispute 'Don Durk'.
Since June 2005, the L.P.H.D. 'Don Durk' has had the right priorities in order. For the gentlemen who hold the Leydsche dear, who proudly promote it, and who fundamentally identify with it, the L.P.H.D. is the medium through which they stay sharp and strong.
The 20th Senate of the L.P.H.D. 'Don Durk', consisting of DHr. Hoogenstrijd (The Presidential), DHr. Eggen (The Secretarial), and DHr. Lin (The Treasurer), spares no effort or cost to organize activities that do justice to the interests and principles of the gentlemen, helping them survive these harsh times.
Each year, the L.P.H.D. travels to Munich to defend the front lines at Oktoberfest. This centuries-old folk festival symbolizes the fundamentals that the L.P.H.D. promotes. In addition to the now-famous and somewhat notorious trip to Bavaria, numerous activities are organized every year, both private and public. These include the Gentlemen's Trip, the Pub Crawl during the Poortenborrel, and the Senior Day. Additionally, we have a monthly gathering on the first Friday. We also organize open activities such as the Agent-Catches-Crook Party and the Men’s Cantus (now highly valued events among all the members of the association).
During our magnificent activities, we drink, excel, escalate, desire, chant, spend, appreciate, invest, reason, and philosophize together. Membership in the L.P.H.D. guarantees all of the above.
