Once again a group of enthusiastic members has been put together to fill up the charity committee this year. Despite being one of the youngest committees within Aesculapius, it is certainly not the least important. The charity committee organizes various activities during the year and raises money for charity. These activities range from lunches and sponsor runs, to parties and auctions.
After many a charity committee has collected a pretty sum for various charities in recent years, it was up to us this year to choose a new charity. After a meetings and some brainstorming, we quite quickly settled on the following and in our opinion beautiful cause; Stichting ALS Nederland. This foundation is committed to offering help to people suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), one of the most horrific and debilitating disorders of the nervous system. Patients diagnosed with ALS neither recovery nor survival. However, due to the relatively small number of patients, there is little interest from the government and pharmaceutical companies to invest in research for possible treatments. This is precisely why ALS Nederland is so important to ALS patients and family members.
We as a committee, consisting of Anika Senneker, Koen Mulder, Thijs Revelman, Ward Brouwer and myself, are going to do our very best to collect a nice amount of money and are looking forward to organize some amazing activities for the club. Of course we cannot do this alone and therefore we hope to welcome you all on our activities!
